Simplify your life

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him” 2Cor 11:3-4

It is sad to see people gravitate toward difficult things. We live in a world where simple things are abandoned for complex things, if it is too easy, then it may not work well or last long. Human beings generally seem to have a propensity for complexity. 12 secrets of great achievers, 21 reasons why your breakthrough is hindered, 101 steps to uncommon favour etc. Whenever I see titles such as these either on books or sermons I wonder why we allow deception and delusion to hold our minds captive.

I make bold to say that if it is complex, then it is not divine. If you have to struggle or follow certain stringent rules to get something from God, you are being introduced to a wrong God. Jesus, God in the flesh (Jn. 1:14) said “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” Matt. 11:28-30. He said His yoke was easy and His burden light.

If you are born again, it means you have come to Him. You are in Him now. You have found rest for your soul by simply believing the gospel of Christ. You have entered into God’s rest and ceased from your own works. Heb. 4:10. You entered in by believing! In the kingdom of God, we become by believing! We believe to receive. It’s as simple as that! And if you entered into Christ by believing, you will live the rest of your life in Him believing same truth that brought you in! “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him: Rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving” Col 2:6-7. How did you receive Christ? By grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-9). You walk in Him same way you received Him, by grace through faith! Grace simply means freely given and so you freely receive. There is only one step/way to receiving from God, believe! Just believe! And a believer does not have any problem with believing, he is already a believer!

We ought to have a right perspective of God. He does not like to be seen from the prism of our human hardness and difficulty. He is not hard to please or difficult to appease. He is pleased when we see ourselves in the light of His Son and nothing else. Paul tells us not to allow our minds to be corrupted from the simplicity (sincerity, purity or devotion) which is in Christ like Eve’s mind was. Man fell in the garden of Eden because he stopped believing God. The fruit they ate was the fruit of unbelief. The enemy came and sowed a seed of doubt and fear. “Has God said…” (Gen. 3:1). Doubts usually begin with questions. Why do men question what God has clearly stated? We use human logic to analyse spiritual realities. Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life! (Jn. 14:6). This is plain and simple and it is enough for us!

Simply say these words out loud “I simplify my life with the simplicity that is in Christ. I do not allow my mind to drift from the Gospel of Christ to another gospel. Christ is enough for me. My devotion is simply to Him. As I have received Him, I walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him, established in the faith and I abound therein with thanksgiving!”
