GIVING TO THE CAUSE OF THE GOSPEL Part 1

It is an important aspect that many times we can overlook.

Many times when we want to make a budget for the year/month, hardly do we see the work of the gospel as important. Many do not know that they ought to make provision for the cause of the gospel. They can plan for the school fees of their kids; house rents, food stuffs, snacks, business plans etc.

We have to stop giving to the gospel spontaneously; like a ‘Sunday Sunday’ love-gifts. The gospel requires more than that. You must never forget that you heard the Gospel first on the account of someone else’s giving. There are many who are bound by religion, traditions of men who need to hear this Gospel, it takes good planning with good finances to reach them.

So many people are stretching forth their hearts and hands, waiting eagerly to hear the same gospel that set you free from condemnation and burden of guilt. Though the Gospel is free but it takes a whole lot of money to sponsor it’s meetings, books, special programes, outreaches etc. We can do a lot more with your COMMITMENT and your GIVING.

The message of the gospel is clear
Romans 1:16
It is about the death of Jesus for sins. It is the power of God unto salvation. It is how Jesus gave to us the grace of God. The gospel of the anointed one who died, was buried and he rose again.

It is what pronounces a sinner a saint in the eyes of God

• So the gospel is what fulfils the plan of God for the earth

• If I don’t know the will of God I know the gospel. It is the will of God
`1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

It is the will of God for men!

For anybody in the earth; black or white, great and small, wicked and nice, religious and atheist, Muslims, Shintoist, idol worshippers, American, Indian, African, Spaniards, French speaking, Yorubas, Igbos, Hausas etc.

The will of God for everyone is the gospel; for everyman to be saved

The message is clear; salvation; eternal life; the grace of God…all that Christ has done for humanity!

WHAT IS THE MISSION OF THE GOSPEL?

The mission of the gospel is directed towards people

United Nations: population of the world is about 7 billion.
Hence, the target of the gospel today on earth is for 7 billion people
Jesus told us that this message must be preached in all the world, that is the plan of God (Matthew 28:18, Mark 16:15). Many people are not saved because they haven’t heard the gospel.

a) The gospel is targeted firstly towards the unsaved

Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent?

The above scripture is the dilemma of a sinner. He isn’t saved because he doesn’t know the savior; this is because no one has told him about the savior

b) The gospel is also targeted at believing ones too;

Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

That they will be grounded in the word so that they will do the work of the ministry

So the mission of the gospel is to people. Hence the gospel must reach people. So I must be convinced about the gospel. “A man without conviction is like a ship without navigation”

Any ministry or minister that doesn’t plan for sinners and major on world evangelism is not in the will of God.

THE COST OF THE MISSION

When Jesus said go into all the world that meant they were going to be moving around. This shows you that that mission has a cost.

So there’s a cost to the gospel. Yes it is free; but it is not cheap.

THAT COST IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY!

When Jesus sent them out in Mark 16 and Matthew 28 he knew they were going to need several things.

In Jesus’ ministry for instance he fed the poor severally; used men’s ship to move around; fed the poor regularly

The gospel has a cost; it is free but it is not cheap! For the gospel to reach the whole world there’s a cost to it and we must realize this FACT!

We all must see giving to the cause of the gospel as our collective responsibility. You have a stake in this mission.
